SGP El Salvador has produced three videos within the COMDEKS ex-post baseline assessment. The video above provides an overview of supported initiatives and their results since the approval of the landscape strategy for the “Jiquilisco Bay – Bajo Lempa – Jaltepeque Estuary Protected Area” in 2014. Since inception of activities in El Salvador, nine projects have been supported as part of the COMDEKS portfolio of landscape interventions to tackle deforestation, overfishing, illegal hunting and increasing water pollution in the region. Each of the projects has created a local youth team for M&E, which have enabled communities to collect project development data in real time.
The video includes partner and community testimonials and images of these community-led initiatives, including reforestation activities; promotion of sustainable fishing and aquaculture practices for income generation, improved local food security, and rehabilitation of local fish and shellfish species; support for sustainable cultivation of local fruits and vegetables, as well as palm trees for roofing and other uses; promotion of fuel efficient cookstoves; and training in hammock weaving for alternative income generation. The other two videos show images from the landscape strategy development process as well as project monitoring activities, and can be accessed at the links below:
